Nama:Stay is the dream child of years of travel, exploration, and our founder Palak Chawla’s deep love for Indian handicrafts. As a NIFT Delhi alumna, Palak began visiting craft clusters as a student and continued discovering India’s crafts long after. Along the way, she met artisans who could spend hours, sometimes days, creating a single piece. Their skill and dedication stayed with her, sparking a simple wish: to bring their work closer to those who would truly cherish it—and to make these beautiful crafts accessible across the world.

Nama:Stay was born with a simple dream: to take India’s timeless crafts to the world. We began with Chikankari from Lucknow and Aari, the delicate chain-stitch embroidery of Kashmir. As our community grew, so did our journey. Today, we celebrate Zari’s luminous threadwork, Ajrakh’s centuries-old natural-dyed blocks, and the hand-stitched sparkle of Mirrorwork. And this is only the beginning.

What makes these pieces special is how easily they fit into your life. Nama:Stay brings each craft into everyday clothing such as gilets, kaftan shirts and dhoti pants, in a way that has never been done before. A part of India's craft and culture becomes a natural part of your day, not saved for special occasions. Today, more than 1,500 artisans and over 50,000 customers are part of this community, with orders travelling to homes across the globe. Now, people all around the world own a piece of Indian culture, and every piece carries the story of the artisan who made it
